Truth or otherwise.

How do you tell a lie from the truth,
And truth from a lie?
What's simpler than a lie,
truer than truth?

To have made a lie of truth
And a truth of lie.
To have known and yet,
Ignored the distinction of the two.

He who bespoke truth, is courageous
So was the one that lied.
How do you know the lie from truth,
And truth from a lie?

How do you tell a man of honour,
by his hidden truth or an honest lie?
You've lived your life with yourself now,
Have you told yourself the truth or did you even try?

Lies are convenient, the truth is such that hurts,
why then do you complain of lies and of the truth?
For I have seen lie dwell in truth
And truth asleep in lie's arms.

If the truth birthed a lie
Then of the lie, truth did brew too,
How would you defend a lied truth
Or the lie that was true?

If you were me, or I were you,
What would you and I choose of the two?
From where I stand staring into my own eyes,
Am I free of my truth or true of my lies too?
